CBS Takes Over YouTube

According to Reuters and a great post on Mashable, CBS has taken over the "Most Watched" position on YouTube by averaging around 850,000 videos watched per day.  The interesting part is that this is leading to an increase in their TV viewership, not a decrease as many networks first feared.

"Although the success of these shows on YouTube is not the sole cause of the rise in television ratings, both companies believe that YouTube has brought a significant new audience of viewers to each broadcast," the companies said.

CBS entered into a deal with YouTube in October where the two companies share the ad revenue generated on YouTube from the viewing of CBS content.

Also, on YouTube's legal issues, Mashable writes:

The list of organizations that have threatened to sue YouTube is growing: Bayern Munich, Time Warner and Universal Music, to name a few. Of course, many of these organizations probably aren’t as backwards as they seem: they’re just trying to negotiate better revenue sharing deals.
