MyBlogLog has quickly become the "crack" of the blogosphere...and we are all smoking it! It is very cool that you get to see who has visited your blog recently, but I have become addicted to surfing it. No matter how hard I try to resist, I must visit every single blogger who shows up in my log. I believe that everyone else is just as addicted as I am...and I am going to prove it.
If you are here right now because you saw me in your BlogLog, then you are now a part of this experiment...read on.
First of all, if you have never heard of MyBlogLog, it is the grid of photos that you see on tons of blogs today. Once a blogger installs the widget on their site, the avatar of any other MyBlogLog member who comes to that site will appear in the widget, thus creating a dynamic "guest book" of visitors. The other feature is some reporting that they blah...blah...blah...who cares. Face it, its really all about the log.
MyBlogLog Experiment #1 - "Addiction"
Summary
The moment that I post this to my blog I will begin a mad MyBlogLog surfing spree. I hope to visit at least 100 blogs that have the widget installed and record the list here. I am not going to leave any comments or make anyone a contact (that might be a future experiment). I will just leave my little breadcrumb behind...my avatar in the widget.
Hypothesis
75% of the blogs that I visit will reciprocate with a visit to my site within 24 hours. It is an agressive %, but personal experience gives me the confidence that I am right.
Methodology
I will attempt to record, through the widget, all of the MyBlogLoggers who visit my site for the first 24 hours after this post. I will compare this count with the total sites visited and come up with the final %.
How you can help
If you are a MyBlogLogger who has been "caught" by this, leave me a comment. Are you addicted too?
I will report back the results in another post.
Me first, me first!! I 'am' from Mybloglog and although I'm not really addicted (yet?), I'm enjoying finding some new blogs to read. It'll be interesting to see how this turns out for you.

After an hour and half I visited 77 mybloglog sites and 13 have already reciprocated with a visit here.
You are so addicted!!

Okay you got me too but it would be easier if you didn't have to sign in to comment. Looking forward to your results.

Guess I'm hooked too ;)

It is now morning and has been 9 hours since the post. My BlogLog shows that 25 people have shown up as a result of the experiment.
That puts us at a 32% addiction level with 15 more hours to go!

Had to look and see who saw my blog :)
you got me
Posted by: cara | Jan 08, 2007 at 12:39
Guilty. Not many people read my blog, and only a small percentage of them are MyBlogLog members.
Of course I want to see more about those few that are interested in reading my stuff. An addiction? Maybe.

I'm still relatively new to this blogging experience (I started mine on Dec. 24th), and am finding my way around. The idea of social networking is more important than just blindly following links from MyBlogLog. Hell, I've got so many irons in the fire, I may never come back here again unless I find extraordinary content after I leave this comment!
