Peter Hirschberg of Technorati is throwing a fit right now. I just know it. Why, you ask? Because Edelman and NewsGator together, have coined the terms "Conversational Advertising" and "Hosted Conversations".
This is killing him because he and Edelman PR have been throwing around the term "conversational advertising" for at least a year now. I have personally been involved in meetings with Peter and "people at Edelman" to help get this idea off the ground last summer. In fact, the "News and Blog" section of the climatecrisis.org website, has been proclaimed by Peter as the first working example of a "hosted conversation."
So I must ask, "Why Newsgator and not Technorati?" Someone must know the answer.
Also, very interesting post from here. Looks like a blogger stumbled acroos a patent application for "Conversational advertising." I wonder who that would be???
Rubels great "friend" Amanda Chapel (Strumpette) chimes in with the first comment on his announcement.
This is going to be fun to watch.
ClickZ News: “The NewsGator-powered product tracks media relating to pre-specified subjects, extracting nuggets from blog posts, mainstream media, and video and photo sites. The PR firm will pluck the highest quality content from those sources based on criteria set by its clients; the choice bits will then feed dynamically into the chosen advertiser-branded units.”
So basically, you’ve set up a system to steal content broadly to set up managed and sponsored portals to help clients surreptitiously sell.
The Edelman webcancer spreads.
